I grew up on a farm between Burt and Titonka surrounded by animals since I can remember. We had cats, dogs and just about every other animal you can imagine. It was amazing. I am the proud manager of Pet Kingdom for nearly 20 years now. It’s the perfect job for an animal lover. I started working with the rescue 13 years ago and have volunteered on and off ever since and have fostered dogs as well. I am thrilled with how far the rescue has come and look forward to everything the future holds for us. I enjoy spending time my family, inlcuding my significant other, Dan, my adult children and being “Granny” to all my amazing grandkids.

One of my fondest memories is with my sister at my grandmas country house. There was a special litter of kittens we cared for. I became very attached to them. Grandma let us. make a nursing mom and kitten house out of a garbage barrel. We added cozy blankets and made sure it was safe for the kittens. Grandma let me pick my faorites from the litter and they became our family cats growing up. We name them Bubba and Lily. They are still going strong at my parents house today. I learned a lot about cats and their behavior growing up. I love dogs too. My dog, Luna, gets a birthday cake and candle ever year on her birthday. I rescued her from an abusive home. She had broken ribs and spend most of her time tied up in all weather. She is my baby! I started with the rescue in 2022 and I try to always be there for the rescue cats, they need us.

I have been married to my wonderful husband, Steve, for 48 years. We have three children; Mindy, Pam and Ben as well as two precious grandchildren; Regan and Rylie. My son Ben started volunteering at the rescue in 2017 which is how I first learned about it. I was already rescuing and rehoming cats out of my home, something I still do when the rescue is at capacity, when I started volunteering. I was a long time employee at Kmart before its closing in 2020. I now serve on the board as well as volunteer time doing chores at the shelter. I am so proud of how far we have come. In my spare time I love to golf, bowl and spend time outside in my garden and flower beds.

I am a proud mom to daughter, Ashlyn. I live on a farm just outside of Algona. In 2023 I came across a post about the rescue needing help with chores. From my first visit I was hooked! Growing up we worked hard for what we had. This early ingrained work ethic has served me well in my career at Nutrien, community involvement, and at the rescue. I feel truly blessed to be part of this incredible volunteer group. Witnessing the community adopters and volunteers come toghether to support the rescue has been a heartwarming reminder of just how incredible people in our community are. I am proud to serve as the President of the Board of Directors.

In 2023 the rescue invited me to serve on the Board of Directors. I initially mentioned that I didn’t have a cat, but I did have plenty of life and work experience to contribute. I have truly enjoyed getting to know everyone, learning about the rescues mission and watching it grow into what it is today. I now have a cat of own and even dressed a cat for Halloween. The photo above is a picture of my granddaughter, Ellie and myself on Halloween. I recently retired from the Kossuth County Attorneys Office and look forward to having more free time for my family, friends and things that I love, like the rescue.

I currently work at Nutrien and spend my days with my dog whom I rescued, fittingly named Angel, and my nieces and nephews. I often take them to the rescue and they love playing with the kitties.
I am also a proud Hawkeye fan and never miss a game. I enjoy many sports including darts, golf, sand volleyball and am ready for any emergency as I am certified in CPR and First Aid.

I have been an animal lover since day one. As a child I begged for a pet until finally I was gifted a trip to Benschoters for my birthday in elementary school. Since that day I have always had a pet. All rescues of course. Orginally from Algona I now live north of Burt on an Acreage with my husband, Mikkel, and our animals. I work at Loving Hands Nursery and really enjoy my time with the kids there. My journey with the rescue began years ago when we were just a small fundraising group. After some time away I am thrilled to be back at Tails of Hope and so excited to be part of the new organization. I never leave the rescue in a bad mood. It is truly a joy to spend time there, dare I say therapeutic. I enjoy spending time with the animals and helping them on their way to their forever homes. They give nothing but love and thats what they deserve.
